Doc Talk #147 – “Ages and Stages”

In this show we discussed childhood development and in particular, the “Ages and Stages” tool. Detecting problems with early childhood development is important, because with appropriate intervention we are able to limit the impact that it has, and help children to reach their full potential.

Childhood development occurs across a number of domains:

  • Communication
  • Fine Motor
  • Gross Motor
  • Problem Solving
  • Personal and Social Development

In this show, we talked about some “milestones” – things you might expect children to do by a certain age. Click above to listen again and learn about when you might need to worry.

If you have concerns about your child’s development, or want more information there are a number of resources locally, including Parent Link, FCSS, local schools and healthcare providers.
