Doc Talk #110 – Canada’s Grade for Physical Activity in Kids? D+

In this show, Dr Dan and Jamieson explored the awesome recent ParticipACTION report card on physical activity in Canadian children. Canada got a D+, which shows how much work we have to do.

There has been no change in physical activity in children in Canada between 2007 and 2015.

When you click on the ParticipACTION website, it says ‘Welcome to our Website, but don’t stay too long! It’s time for Canada to sit less and move more.’

We discussed the three parts of the day (physical activity, sedentary behaviour and sleep) and talked about the recommendations for all three.

Click the audio bar above to listen again and learn more about ways to increase your child’s physical activity, reduce their screen time and make sure they are getting enough sleep!

We love the report which is really well laid out, gives good background information and specific recommendations for policymakers, it is available at the ParticipACTION website.
