Doc Talk #101 – Early Childhood Development

We were delighted to welcome Charlene Melenka from the Vegreville and District Child Development Coalition and Nadine Crain from FCSS.

They discussed recent results from a child development report in Vegreville which shows that we have some work to do, with children aged between 0 and 6 years old struggling in some areas of development.

We’re really trying to empower parents – and not just parents, but anyone who is a caregiver

The five domains of development assessed were: physical health and wellbeing, social competence, emotional maturity, language and cognitive development, and communication and general knowledge.

If you’re interested in learning more, you can check out the government of Alberta website which has data relating to the province and individual communities.

Worried that your child is at risk of developmental delay? The good news is we have some awesome resources available in Vegreville.
