Doc Talk #18 – Driving and Health

Driving is a complicated task and it is a privilege, not a right. There are lots of medical conditions that may impact on someone’s ability to drive safely.

In Alberta, driving medicals on the basis of age are required from age 75 for class 5 (standard licenses).

You may need medicals at an earlier age if you have a higher class of license, or if you have medical conditions that might impact on your ability to drive.

If you need alternative transport options, check out Vegreville Transportation Services Society or call them on (780) 632-7363. They have a handivan and subsidized taxi voucher scheme.
